According to ContactMusic.com, Adam Lambert has asked his fans to donate money to a charity in place of sending him gifts, which they do routinely. Lambert tweets: "Been doing lots of thinking... Last year on the road I received so many thoughtful gifts from all of you. But I very quickly ran out o' (of) room...Instead of giving me gifts, why not donate 2 donorschoose.org or other charity in my name? U can print a receipt 4 me and personalize it."
donorschoose.org is a site which allows people to donate money to help public schools across the country.
Lambert first got the attention of the nation last year during the eighth season of American Idol, with his wide vocal range and unique musical style. He has subsequently landed high on the Billboard charts with multiple debuts on the Hot 100 and the Hot Digital Songs charts. His first album, For Your Entertainment (19 Recordings/RCA), debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Charts with 198,469 albums sold in the first week. Lambert additionally recorded the soundtrack "Time for Miracles" for the disaster movie 2012, released on October 20, 2009 as a side project single. The song also appears on For Your Entertainment.
Lambert participated last year in the American Idols LIVE! Tour 2009 with his fellow Top 10 contestants. He is the recipient of the Young Hollywood Award for Artist of the Year and the Teen Choice Award for Reality/Variety Star. Barbara Walters also named him one of the 10 most fascinating people of 2009.
As an actor, Lambert appeared in WICKED twice, once with the touring company in March 2005 for a six month contract, and then opening in the sitdown Los Angeles production in February 2007 and remaining with the show until October 2008. For both engagements in Wicked,he was a member of The Ensemble and understudied the role of Fieryo, the show's love interest.
