Blues Brothers Band Members To Tour With Singer Stevie Hawkins

Through a collaborative effort in support of the new critically acclaimed CD release titled "What The Funk?" that is receiving radio global airplay, "2012 Artists In Music Awards Winner as Best Jazz Artist" Stevie Hawkins, and Asteroid Funk will perform a live music experience and show on their "What The Funk? Tour 2012".

On the upcoming tour, lead vocalist and drummer Stevie Hawkins, is supported by a backing band, including members of the Blues Brothers Band Tom "Bones" Malone on trombone, Blue Lou Marini on saxophone, and Rusty Cloud on keys. Also in the line-up is Don Harris on trumpet (Tower Of Power-Chaka Kahn), Jarolsav Jakubovic on saxophone, (Lionel Hampton-Bette Midler), Chuck Webb on bass, (Stevie Wonder-Grover Washington Jr), Butch Taylor on guitar, (Brecker Brothers-Patti Austin), Nate Wingfield on guitar (The Family Stone-Jimmy Castor) at select shows, Van Abbott on keys (Reba McEntire-Dolly Parton) at select shows, and BB Brown on percussion and backup drums (Gregg Allman-Leon Russell). On background vocals are Ula Hedwig (Robert Plant-Al Green), Tabitha King (Usher-Keith Sweat) and Heaven Davis (Delbert McClinton-koko Taylor). Marini, Harris, Jakubovic, Webb and Taylor performed on "What The Funk."

Through the artistic vision and direction of choreographer Lacy Darryl Phillips, a fusion of visuals, dance, and music immerses the audience in this show. Phillips' professional background as Choreographer and Director for Television, Stage and Film includes: Bette Davis, Gregory Hines, The Academy Awards, Vanessa Williams, Sandra Reaves-Phillips, "Sister Act II", "A Chorus Line", "The Wiz" starring Peabo Bryson and Grace Jones, Cece Peniston, and was Associate Choreographer/Director for Mariah Carey's "Around The World" Tour.

The Super-Group, Stevie Hawkins & Asteroid Funk, are set to launch their tour, playing festivals and arenas throughout the summer and fall in Europe, the U.S.A. and beyond. An elated Hawkins says, "The band is incredibly tight, delivering a high-energy, thrilling fan concert experience, capable of producing awe-inspiring, emotion-filled moments both visually and musically. We will soon be announcing a surprise, legendary blues artist that will making special guest appearance performances at select shows. The excitement level for us is extremely high!"
