Trumpet Swan Entertainment & Rocket Science announce the release of Grammy nominated and platinum selling artist Sophie B. Hawkins's new album -- THE CROSSING - nationwide on 10.11.11. Best known for long running hit singles -- As I Lay Me Down ( 67 weeks on the Billboard chart) - and Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover, Sophie B. Hawkins is releasing her first studio album since 2004. For fans eagerly waiting to hear new music from Sophie, this album promises to be worth the wait as she breaks open her heart without reservation on THE CROSSING.

"I have been a fan of Sophie's since the first time I heard 'Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover" on the radio," says Kevin Day, President of Rocket Science. "I have listened to The Crossing develop over the course of the last year and am even more of a fan now. Our entire team is thrilled to be involved with Sophie B. Hawkins and her newest release"

THE CROSSING is a searing, lush and startlingly naked chronicle of the most intense period of Hawkins' life, in which she has come to terms with her father's death, openly surrendered to the haunting specter of her past, discovered the exhilaration of motherhood and arrived at a profound reckoning of acceptance. All of this emerges in songwriting and vocals that mix the brashly playful and the unabashedly poignant in fresh ways for Hawkins. The album will include 17 tracks including xx new songs as well as acoustic versions of "As I Lay Me Down" and "Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover."

"I am so happy to be partnering with Rocket Science because they support great artists and have an incredible a platform for so many different kinds of listeners to buy, hear and enjoy great music," says Sophie B. Hawkins. "I'm excited to have the opportunity to channel my drive and creativity into the market place under Kevin Day's expert guidance at Rocket Science."

Her first album, the Platinum selling record, Tongues and Tails, full of primal, fiery pop, was an immediate success, earning her a Grammy nomination for "Best New Artist." Hawkins followed that with Whaler, which featured the smash ballad, "As I Lay Me Down," which remains the longest-running hit single in the Billboard charts in American history. This platinum selling album, was equally gutsy as her first yet an atmospheric departure, sealed her rising reputation for musical breadth and lyrical depth. Whaler was followed by Timbre and Wilderness and finally, her live album Bad Kitty Board Mix in 2006, all released on her own label Trumpet Swan Entertainment.

Since releasing her last studio album, Sophie has been busy touring the country and performing, appearing in a documentary that chronicled her journey to reconcile her childhood called "The Cream Will Rise", becoming a mother for the first time, painting in her studio and more recently, writing and composing music for a new musical she is collaborating on with Kristin Chenoweth.
Sophie's fans have been begging her to release a new album and that day has now come. Just last year, MTV.com wrote --- "what the music world needs now is Sophie B Hawkins".
